Ziv HaTorah Yarchei Kallah
by Yated Ne'eman Staff

The Ziv HaTorah Yarchei Kallah recently celebrated its Barmitzvah year. Almost seventy people attended the three day program at the Stenecourt Shul on the December Bank Holiday.

HaRav Eliyohu Falk gave three shiurim on Makeh BePatish -- making, assembling, and repairing an article on Shabbos -- highlighting many contemporary applications.

HaRav Mordechai Steinberg of the Manchester Yeshiva Kollel delivered four shiurim on maseches Shabbos perek Bameh Madlikin, with outstanding clarity.

Rabbi Moshe Klarberg, Kashrus Director of the Manchester Beis Din, explained the different levels of hechsherim that are halachically acceptable. Rabbi Ephraim Hochhauser, lecturer at Yeshivas Ohr Torah, spoke on the sedrah.

HaRav Mendy Shein of Sunderland Kollel and part-time lecturer at Beis Chaya Rochel Seminary spoke on the importance of studying history. He said that we must be inspired by the great heroes and heroines of our illustrious past, who have made lofty goals more attainable by their own high standards.

Rabbi Malcolm Herman, Program Director of Seed, spoke on the unusual topic of the Shir shel Yom, explaining its origin and significance.

Rabbi Dovid Roberts, Seed Lecturer and rov in Edgware, spoke on "Chanukah and the Enigma of Jewish Survival." His message was that when one lives for the community and not for oneself, one becomes part of the community, and the community is indestructible.

Rabbi Todros Miller, vice Principal of Gateshead Seminary, spoke about "Waiting for Moshiach." He explained that man must exert himself through prayer to aspire to heights in knowledge of Torah totally beyond his intellectual capacity and must yearn to fulfill even those commandments of the Torah which currently do not devolve upon him. This is the essence of yearning for the Moshiach.
