Coming Full Circle: A Deep and Dynamic Approach to Self-
Growth through Torah
by Ezra Jacobs
(352 pages, Feldheim)
Endorsed by the Novominsker Rebbe Rabbi Yaakov Perlow, Rabbi
Yechiel Fischel Eizenbach, Rabbi Chaim Zvi Ruben, and with a
letter of blessing from Rabbi Chaim Pinchas Scheinberg.
Coming Full Circle is a deep book. Deep not because it
is discussing mysterious things or that we are unfamiliar
with the terminology and concepts used. On the contrary, the
work is well organized, eloquent, deeply researched, and self-
explanatory.
Rather, it is deep because, essentially, it is a metaphor of
who we are, what we can be, and what life is really all
about. This book, therefore, is not a self-help manual in the
ordinary sense. True, words such as actualization, synergy,
synchrony, perfection, etc., are the contemporary jargon
commonly used. But these idiomatic expressions merely touch
upon an outer layer or clothing over a more profound level of
understanding of Chazal's vision of the Jewish soul and
psyche, what the deeper sources call Ma'asei Merkovoh
(how the soul is enmeshed within the psyche and animates
it).
This is Torah psychology at its best! Based on the Divinely
inspired words of Chazal, the personality profile of the Jew
acquires new depth and meaning. Through the processes of
logical association, the author enables the reader to enter
into the deep recesses of the soul and psyche, to recognize
our true strengths and weaknesses, and he defines a pathway
whereby negative traits can be rectified as spiritual
potential is realized. In essence, this is the substance of
this book, and as succinctly summed up by one of the blurbs,
"As much as it is a work replete with profound Torah wisdom,
it is also human and warm, practical and challenging."
Graced by an exquisite dust cover (which, like the main title
of the book, is suggestive of attaining completion), and
beautiful, sensory graphics, Coming Full Circle may
have a major impact on the Jewish scene. In the short time
since this book has been released, it has received an
overwhelming response by many sectors of the community:
beginners, housewives, laymen, and learned scholars. Indeed,
it is a book for everyone!
The author, Rabbi Ezra Jacobs, learns full-time in kollel.
He has a background in psychology, teaching, and
kiruv. This is his first publication.
