Beis Medrash Lehalachah Behityashvut
By Betzalel Kahn

Beis Medrash Nachalas Moshe in Bnei Brak and the main beis knesses at the Blumental Children's Home in Jerusalem were packed with hundreds of rabbonim, kashrus workers, bnei Torah and public figures participating in seminars on kilayim in both plants and animals, sponsored by Beis Hamedrash Hagovohah Lehalachah Behityashvut.

For years these seminars have served as a central forum for today's poskim to address significant developments on contemporary, day-to-day issues regarding mitzvas tied to Eretz Yisroel and have succeeded in raising awareness on these matters in a wide segment of the public.

Held on two consecutive days, the two seminars were both opened by HaRav Yosef Efrati, who addressed the topic of beef derived from breeds of cattle that do not have a kashrus mesores. Next HaRav Moshe Mordechai Karp spoke about indications of kosher fowl and eggs. Following a short recess, HaRav Shaul Reichenberg, who is in charge of the Beis Medrash's ma'aseros fund, spoke about hybrid fruit trees.

The closing speaker at the Bnei Brak seminar was HaRav Yitzchok Zilberstein, rov of Ramat Elchanan, who spoke about several current questions, including a new children's game sold in stores whose objective is to grow seedlings.

The closing speaker at the Jerusalem seminar was HaRav Boruch Shimon Salomon, rosh yeshivas Nachalas Dovid and rov of Petach Tikva, who addressed the topic of bringing bikkurim when one cannot recite the passage.

Cassettes of the shiurim delivered at the seminars are available at the Beis Medrash offices at Rechov Nachum 9 in Jerusalem.
