The Vaad Hayeshivos under the aegis of Keren HaTorah is
continuing to take revolutionary steps to reduce expenses
after gedolei Torah assigned HaRav Osher Tannenbaum
several weeks ago the task of finding ways to lower costs at
Torah institutions.
Following extensive inquiries and comparisons a food-supply
company has been selected to provide ready-made meals to
various yeshivas at discount prices. One of the largest, most
stable companies in the market, it already provides 40,000
meals per day.
After reaching an agreement with Keren HaTorah the company
opened a special kitchen in Yavneh where kashrus is
supervised by Shearis Yisroel. Toward the end of this month
an additional kitchen will be opened, besiyata
deShmaya. In addition a special representative has been
employed to visit the yeshivas every day to evaluate the
quality of the food and service.
So far numerous yeshivas, including Or Yisroel, Chadera and
Grodna Ashdod, have signed onto the agreement. Yeshiva
managers report great relief over the major reduction in the
financial burden on the respective yeshiva budgets and
satisfaction with the quality of food and service.
Keren Hayeshivos is continuing its efforts to organize the
yeshiva world in order to further lower the costs of food,
cleaning and consumable goods for the holy yeshivas. In the
coming days an initial contract is scheduled to be signed
with a large supplier that will bring an immediate drop in
costs of at least 20 percent.
