Removal of Outposts Begins
by Yated Ne'eman Staff
Settlers in Judea and Samaria vowed to fight the IDF as it
started to act on the road map by taking down 10 uninhabited
outposts from an initial list of 15. On Tuesday it is taking
down the other five, which include five that are inhabited.
According to reports, the army intends to remove 94 outposts
in the near future in what is called Operation Naked
Hilltop.
Abbas Won't Use Force
by Yated Ne'eman Staff
Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas reiterated
his opposition to using force against rejectionist
Palestinian groups on Monday, saying the only alternative to
dialogue is dialogue. It was not clear how he could make
progress on terrorism as called for by the road map without
using force, since Hamas and the Islamic Jihad have declared
that they are continuing the armed struggle.
Expect Growth, Says Klein
by Yated Ne'eman Staff
Central bank governor David Klein said on Monday that the
conditions necessary for renewed economic growth have now
been created. Klein said three things had set the stage for
renewed growth: the government's economic program, the
resumption of the Palestinian peace process, and the start of
a worldwide economic recovery, albeit so far a slow one.
Jerusalem Election Results Confound the Polls
by M Plaut
The ballot box election results in the mayoral elections were
completely different from those that the polls predicted.
Jews In The Anglo-Boer War
by D. Saks
The recent surfacing in Johannesburg of a collection of
letters written during the Anglo-Boer War of 1899-1902 has
provided interesting insights into the difficulties and
dilemmas faced by Jewish soldiers seeking to maintain at
least a semblance of their Jewish identity whilst on active
service in those years.
Dorog Torah Center Avreichim Awarded Rabbinical Diplomas
by Yated Ne'eman Staff
There was rejoicing in the chassidic Dorog community in Eretz
Yisroel at the news that thirty of its leading avreichim
passed the examinations that will entitle them to receive
rabbinical diplomas - semichoh. The thirty, all
students at Dorog's Bnei Brak kollel, devoted
thousands of hours to their learning and spent hundreds of
days immersed in study.
Mishmeres Hasholem: A Loshon-Hora Free Klal Yisroel is
Achievable
by M. Samsonowitz
It all started as the private initiative of Rabbi Sholom
Goldstein, the principal of the Detroit Bais Yaakov. Rabbi
Goldstein, a selfless and caring father to all his students,
was also a founder and pillar of the Detroit religious
community. In the last year of his life, he energetically
pushed the study of shemiras haloshon in Bais Yaakovs
around the U.S.

Our Hopes for the Mayor of Jerusalem
The mayor of Jerusalem, as head of the largest city and the
capital, is one of the senior public officials of the State
of Israel. With its diverse population, and encompassing
sites that are of deep religious and cultural interest to all
Christians and Moslems as well as Jews, Jerusalem draws
international attention and its mayor has to deal with that
as well.
