Terumos and Ma'asros Separated from Wheat for Matzos
by A. Cohen
At a unique event last week at Moshav Yad Binyamin,
terumos and ma'asros were separated from wheat
harvested last month for use in matzos to be made for next
Pesach at Yad Binyamin's matzo baking facility, which adheres
to the highest standards of kashrus under the supervision of
Shearis Yisroel.
Attending the event were Badatz members HaRav Tzvi Weber,
HaRav Eliezer Dunner, HaRav Shaul Reichenberg, head of Keren
Hamaaseros at the Institute for Halachic Research, Shearis
Yisroel director Rabbi Yekutiel Dershowitz, kashrus
supervisors and Shearis Yisroel's overseer for terumos
and ma'asros.
After a lengthy discussion among the rabbonim regarding the
correct nusach to be recited HaRav Reichenberg brought
hundreds of coins for the Keren Hamaaseros on which to
separate the terumos and ma'asros.
One month ago, at a similar event to mark the wheat harvest,
Badatz members spent much of the harvest sitting on the wheat
combines. All of the work was performed becherdas
kodesh out of a sense of the tremendous responsibility
placed on the shoulders of the rabbonim and the team of
supervisors and mashgichim. Also present were members
of the Shearis Yisroel matzo-baking chaburah.
