Chinese Cuisine Packs a Purim Punch
A True Purim Story, New York

Last Purim many amazing things happened which I can only attribute to Hashgocho Protis, individual Divine Providence.

After the Second Cup
by S. Levy

Ad-d'lo-yada... from understanding... to not understanding... to a new level of understanding... to a new level of not understanding...

Guys and Disguise
by Chaim Walder

Early one morning in Elul, if you will recall, an Arab disguised as a chareidi made his way along Rechov Haneviim, intending to reach the Jaffa-King George busy intersection and wreak havoc. His disguise was quickly revealed and a chase begun in which he blew himself up `prematurely,' causing at worst, slight injuries to only a few passersby.

Some serious Purim reflections...

PREPARING FOR THE FUTURE
The Bitter Side of Sugar

by R' Zvi Zobin

Purim is the traditional Binge Day / but there may be the consequences to pay...

Eyes Right
by Rochel T.

I think it was about ten years ago that I noticed my arms getting too short. I'm not sure, but I believe that it was just around the time that they started printing the telephone directory in smaller print. When I reached the point where I couldn't read the fine print on a passport application, I figured it was time to see an eye doctor.

Everything in Moderation
by Rosally Saltsman

I have previously discussed the two money personality types of the low-maintenance person and the economical person who knows how to live life simply and to its fullest. I would like to mention a third type, the one who lives in moderation.

BOOK REVIEW
A Rabbi's Journal

by Rabbi Reuven Rubin
reviewed by Yonina Hall

When was the last time you read a book that really talks to you? A book that not only says something of value, but whose author warms you with his sincerity, compassion and wisdom? A book that doesn't preach, but reaches deep into your mind and heart to awaken the clarity that was there all along?

Your Medical Questions Answered!
by Joseph B. Leibman, MD

The next topic may not be an overly relevant one. However, you never know when such information may help someone. And besides, it is a very interesting topic.

We will speak about bites. People bites, animal bites, reptile bites, insect bites, and bites from animals that live in the waters.

Poet's Corner
They drink... and we drink...

Drunk
by Judy Belsky

A drunk
weaves up Cherry St.
enters and leaves bars
never more
than half a block
from his next drink

parched throats
thirst for relief
an invisible cord
pulls me to the sweet
wine of faith

The soul longs
for its infusion
words dampen the universe
concealed in my throat
prayer
is never more than
six hours away

minutes accrue
timeless hours
never more than
six days from Sabbath

Sabbath suspends
moist clouds
over the desert
of the banal week
six days vanish
mirage

I rush to greet
the Sabbath queen
in garments Mother plucks
from lines extended
over the weekday landscape.
