Menorah Grammar School Siyum and Seudas Preidoh
by Yated Ne'eman Staff

The annual Menorah Grammar School Seudas Preidoh was celebrated last Shabbos parshas Pinchos at a seudo shlishis to mark the end of the school year, and to bid farewell to the talmidim leaving for yeshiva.

This seuda was also combined, as has been the custom for many years, with a siyum. The hadran was delivered by one of the talmidim, Nosson Sprei, on this year's masechta -- Bovo Metzia, which was completed in class. This outstanding accomplishment was achieved due to the relentless dedication of the pupils and their rebbes, who also learnt throughout their holidays and study-leave. Yonni Klajn also made a siyum on maseches Rosh Hashonoh which he completed with his chavrusa in his spare time.

In the presence of the rebbes, teachers, Governors, and members of the fifth and sixth form, Rabbi Avrohom Cutler, a rebbe at the school, addressed the gathering with an inspiring drosho about the chashivus of learning Torah and of the recital of its brochos. The guest speaker, Rabbi Dovid Stern of the Golders Green Kollel, expanded on this theme. He explained that even if one learns Torah with great diligence but lacks appreciation of its true value, it is considered as if he has forsaken it: "Ozvu es Torosi." Citing references, he explained that this caused the destruction of the Beis Hamikdosh.

A sixth form leaver, Sheffi Korman, delivered a dvar Torah and thanked all the staff for their tremendous dedication, enabling the boys to have a firm footing when they go to yeshiva.

The proceedings were chaired by the school's headmaster Rabbi Goldblatt. Rabbi Joseph Pearlman, the Chairman of Governors, completed this memorable occasion with divrei chizuk and brochoh.

The rebbes and teachers, governing body, and the pupils would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Mr. and Mrs. Benzion Dunner for their exceptional hospitality.
