Distinguished Visitor at Beis Malka Girls' School
by Yated Ne'eman Staff

Girls at Beis Malka D'Chassidei Belz school received an honored visit recently from Lady Jakobovits. The Rebbetzin has shown a keen interest in the development of the school since its founding twenty years ago, an acknowledgement which culminated last year in her agreeing to become Patron. She expressed great pride on seeing the newly refurbished Junior Block.

In addressing the Senior Department she took the opportunity to deliver divrei his'orerus with special reference to recent trips to both Eretz Yisroel and Poland. She told the girls of her family's own personal deliverance from the Nazis, and the kavonoh she has attached to saying modeh ani ever since.

In speaking of her warm relationship with the Queen, she recognized how both she and her late husband, Lord Jakobovits, zt"l, had been regarded as ambassadors for Orthodoxy in this country (U.K.).

Rebbetzin Jakobovits stressed that in the current world situation, it was vital for the girls to find every opportunity possible to do mitzvos and chesed. She remarked on some of the negative influences of the prevailing gashmiyus on Jewish life today, for example, the absence of practical knowledge of kashering chickens. She warmly accepted Headmistress Mrs. G. Wind's invitation to return and give a demonstration.

As she was leaving, in her truly inimitable style, she spontaneously plucked a white rose from her bouquet and handed it to a pupil, saying, "This is especially from me to you."
