Celebration in Honor of Outstanding Participants in Mifalei
Habchinos Be'al Peh
by Betzalel Kahn
The annual celebration in honor of the outstanding youth who
participated in the oral examinations given by the Mifalei
Habchinos Be'al Peh organization was held on the night of 23
Kislev in Jerusalem's Boyaner Talmud Torah. The organization is
named after HaRav Chaim Shmuelevitz, zt"l, former rosh
yeshiva of Mir and one of the directors of Degel
Yerushalayim. The celebration has been taking place annually
for the past twenty years.
The event honored the finest of young students from scores of
evening yeshivos and masmidim groups throughout
Jerusalem. They were tested on over 32,745 pages of
gemora or chapters of mishnayos by heart.
The event was honored by the presence of the sons of HaRav
Chaim Shmuelevitz, as well as by roshei yeshiva,
rabbonim, prominent communal figures and the directors of the
Cultural Fund of Degel Yerushalayim.
Addresses of greetings and a survey of the Mifalei Habechinos
Be'al Peh activities were delivered at the celebration, where
certificates were distributed to the top students.
