To our brothers dwelling in the Holy Land who observe the
mitzvos of the Shmittah Year
I hereby wish to publicize the deeds of the gibborei
koach, our brothers in the fields, men of orchards and
vineyards who have accepted upon themselves to observe the
shevi'is according to halacha and stand firm in all
the difficult trials of the gibborei koach, and who
consistently do everything according to the rulings of the
beis din.
Now that harvest time has come and we merit to have fruits
of shevi'is which are kosher and hefker as
required by halacha, emissaries of the beis din hire
workers to harvest and collect the fruits in order to
disburse them at distribution points according to halacha,
while collecting money for the expense involved in the
maintenance of the orchards and vineyards and the expenses
of packing and distribution.
I hereby turn to the community, including the yeshivas and
institutions, to assist and strengthen those who keep the
shevi'is according to halacha by buying these fruits
which have no chashash of being ne'evad or
shomur. Let everyone bring blessing into his home and
eat them with kedushas shevi'is. This will also help
the beis din pay the expenses of the farmers they
represent, who worked according to the instructions of the
beis din.
May it be G-d's will that through the merit of keeping
shevi'is according to halacha we soon merit the
complete Redemption.
