Glatt 5761, the 17th edition of the kashrus guide of
the BaDaTz of Shearis Yisroel, is currently being
distributed all over the country. Like its predecessors,
this year's edition includes many sections offering up-to-
date information on the kashrus of various products for use
on Pesach as well as throughout the year.
Other features include a surveys of the activities of
Shearis' widespread kashrus network in Israel and abroad and
articles on practical halocho on a broad range of
issues, written by maranan verabonon, the gedolei
haposkim and by the rabbonim and morei horo'oh of
Shearis Yisroel.
Among the subjects it discusses are: erev Pesach that
falls on Shabbos, erev Shabbos Hagodol when erev
Pesach falls on Shabbos, and biyur ma'asros. A
detailed chapter on the sale of chometz is included.
It also explains the meaning of the bill of sale to a non-
Jew.
Other special features include: the sequence of the meals on
Shabbos erev Pesach according to the Chazon Ish and
an elucidation by HaRav Yosef Sholom Eliashiv regarding the
afikoman. In addition, the booklet includes pertinent
timetables, shiurim charts, explanations of customs,
as well as lists of places for the sale of chometz
and for the collection of coins for bi'ur
ma'asros.
A detailed, up-to-date review of year-round kashrus
activities of the BaDaTz of Shearis Yisroel is included in
the booklet, stressing the network's special
hiddurim.
Outlets for the purchase of prepared salads by means of a
shlichus arrangement are also listed, along with
consumer guidelines. A special chapter on the
shlichus arrangement for the supply of fruits and
vegetables during the shmittah year is also included.
Shmittas kesofim and prozbul are discussed at
length, while professional, reliable and updated information
about kosher lePesach medicine is also discussed.
An additional section contains a photographed review of the
various activities of Shearis Yisroel, such as its Marriage
Registration Department, as well as a puzzle for youngsters
on the values of kashrus.
