The secular revolution of Barak was officially frozen on Monday, the first of Cheshvan, as a result of an agreement between One Israel and Shas. The latter agreed to support Prime Minister Ehud Barak's government from outside the coalition for a period of four weeks. It was also agreed that the Religious Affairs Ministry will continue to function as it has until now.

OPINION & COMMENT

Facing Hostile Media

Probably one of the most oppressive emotions afflicting the Israeli community and Jewish communities around the world since the riots began (second only to worry and fear) is the frustration.

Live and Learn
by Bruchy Laufer

"She's ignoring me!" thought Raizel bitterly.

"She talks to everybody else but me!"

A group of her school friends were sitting in a semi-circle on the grass in the park. The girls were enjoying the last few days of summer vacation, and had decided to make a cookout to discuss plans for the upcoming school year.

Additional Luach Information

The last day for Kiddush Levonoh -- Cheshvan

One can say Kiddush Levonoh in the entire world until Motzei Shabbos parshas Lech Lecho, the eve of 14 Cheshvan (Nov. 11) at 7:47, Israeli time. In most of Europe the final time is 6:47 P.M., but in America it is impossible at all to make Kiddush Levonoh on Motzei Shabbos and their actual final time is therefore Thursday night, the eve of 12 Cheshvan (Nov. 9). If in America one did not make Kiddush Levonoh before leil Shabbos it is preferable that he make a berochoh at that time than to forfeit the mitzvah altogether. Likewise in Eretz Yisroel and Europe it is preferable to make a berochoh on leil Shabbos than to postpone it to the last minute on Motzei Shabbos especially during the winter in which rain is prevalent.

The astronomical full moon is at 11:15 P.M., three hours and twenty minutes later than the nigud emtzo'i. It seems to me that until the astronomical full moon it is preferable to make a berochoh with shem and malchus than to forfeit it altogether.
