IN-DEPTH FEATURES Reclaiming Jewish Children after the Holocaust Additional Luach Information The Shabbos after Tishah B'Av is called Shabbos Nachamu because of the haftorah in Yeshaya 40, "Console, console My people," that is said on that Shabbos. Haifa: 8:11 P.M. New York: 8:48 P.M. London: 9:39 P.M., forty-six minutes after sunset. The final time is therefore, in most of the world, the entire leil Shabbos. In the extreme eastern countries, it is possible to make a berochoh also on Motzei Shabbos until the time according to the difference in times zones in comparison to Eretz Yisroel. If one did not make a berochoh until leil Shabbos it is preferable to make Kiddush Levonoh on leil Shabbos so not to forfeit the mitzvah altogether. In eastern countries it is much more preferable to make Kiddush Levonoh on Motzei Shabbos and not on leil Shabbos, but lechatchilah he should make the berochoh on leil Shabbos and not rely on the little time on Motzei Shabbos when the sky might be cloudy, and he will altogether forfeit the berochoh. The astronomical full moon is at 8:56 A.M., six hours and twenty-four minutes earlier than the nigud emtzo'i. Although the time of a full fifteen days from the molad is even later than the nigud emtzo'i, in such a case when the astronomical full moon is earlier than the nigud emtzo'i we cannot rely even bedi'eved on that time.
