His'orerus rally in Kiryat Nordau Commemorates Miracle
by Y. Ariel

Hundreds of residents of the Kiryat Nordau Netanya neighborhood assembled for a his'orerus rally to express their gratitude to Hashem for the great miracle that occurred in their midst. A city resident discovered a large bomb that had been placed in the southern neighborhood's bustling industrial center. A heavy calamity was averted when the people in the area were evacuated from the scene.

The many people who came to the rally heard the story of the attempted bombing from the owner of a bakery near the site. He said that he had noticed a suspicious person holding a large package and had seen him placing a ladder near the bakery and laying something that looked like a `tin of paint' on one of its rungs. When the man left and failed to return, the bakery owner climbed the ladder, only to discover that the tin contained numerous wires connected to a battery. He quickly evacuated the area and summoned the security forces to neutralize the bomb.

The neighborhood's rav, HaRav Yehoshua Rosenberg, who initiated the rally along with the Deputy Mayor Rabbi Shmuel Yomtovian, explained how Hashem's hand is evident in the sequence of events that led the bakery owner to suspect the man, thus saving many people from injury.

The rally was held near the site where the bomb had been laid. On the site, a large, outside mincha service was held. Afterward, HaRav Aryeh Shechter delivered a speech arousing those in attendance to recognize Hashem's hand in averting the heavy calamity.

HaRav Rosenberg told those present that this year, the bakery owner had observed kashrus in full, and didn't open his store until the very end of Pesach. Rabbi Shmuel Yomtovian also strengthened the rally participants, urging them to continue to draw Jews closer to Torah and mitzvos. After ma'ariv and kiddush levona, the large throng dispersed.
