New Branch of Abba & Ima Old Age Home Dedicated

by A. Cohen

The Beit Abba ve'Ima network of old age homes in Bnei Brak celebrated the dedication of its new, centrally located branch on 12 Chazon Ish Street in Bnei Brak last week. The dedication was attended by many rabbonim and public figures.

Speeches were delivered by HaRav Yitzchok Zilberstein, rav and av beis din of Ramat Elchonon; HaRav Reuven Karelenstein, HaRav Yitzchok Eisenstein, and the Admor of Ziditchov.

The new branch of Abba ve'Ima is the third in the chain to be opened in Bnei Brak, a city well-known for its dedication to its elderly residents. In Beit Abba ve'Ima homes, special emphasis is placed on human dignity under all situations.

The new branch is located in the city center on 12 Chazon Ish Street. Other branches are on Shmuel Hanovi and Hashomer Streets, and meet the needs of the residents of the center of town. They cater to both independent and indigent elderly people.

The new branch will have a kollel for laymen, in which regular shiurim will be delivered by prominent rabbonim, such as HaRav Reuven Karelenstein, HaRav Tzvi Edelstein, HaRav Shlomo Levenstein, and others.

The new branch of Beit Abba ve'Ima in the city center will also house an Ezer Mitzion medical station which will be manned every Shabbos by a surgeon. The idea to open the station on the site was initiated by the home's director, Rav Meir Shachori, who is subsidizing the station in order to meet the needs of his own residents and also to benefit city residents.

The home advertises that it offers all the amenities and charges only $1,000 (plus VAT), and also offers meals and activities for non-residents.
