In Jerusalem one of the neki'ei da'as, HaRav Isomor
Beckerman zt"l, known for many years as "the
tzaddik," do to his behavior and his unique kindly and
warm way of treating others, passed away.
Reb Isomor was born in Lublin nearly eighty years ago. His
father, Reb Chaim Tzvi Beckerman Hy'd was a prominent
Sokolover Chossid, and was very close to his mentor, HaRav
Yitzchok Zelig Morgenstern, the Admor of Sokolov. His father
was a trusted attendant in the home of the famous gaon, HaRav
Eliyahu Kletzkin, the av beis din of Lublin. Reb
Isomor was also very close to Maharam Shapiro the av beis
din of Lublin and rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas
Chachmei Lublin, who showered him with fatherly love. He was
a descendant of HaRav Isomor of Konskaveli, author of
Mishmeres Isomor.
When Reb Isomor was young, he came to Eretz Yisroel alone.
His entire family perished in the Nazi inferno. He married
the daughter of HaRav Benzion Pollack, a prominent Karliner
Chossid from Yerushalayim and a descendant of HaRav Yonoson
Eibeshitz and the Oheiv Yisroel of Apta.
His funeral on motzei Shabbos parshas Mikeitz, was
attended by hundreds of Yerushalayim's residents, who
bemoaned the great loss.
He is survived by outstanding sons, among them HaRav Shimon
Beckerman, HaRav Menachem Shlomo Beckerman, the head of the
Tchechenov institutions of Yerushalayim, and HaRav Moshe
Beckerman. His sons-in-law include HaRav Dov Wolf, HaRav
Eliezer Koenig and HaRav Binyomin Cheshin. He also leaves
behind grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom are
following in the footsteps of Torah and Chassidus.
