Hundreds of Lakewood Students Came to Eretz Yisroel

by S. Baruchi

Hundreds of Lakewood Yeshiva students have arrived in Eretz Yisroel to participate in the memorial ceremony on the first yahrtzeit of HaRav Nosson Tzvi Wachtfogel zt"l. HaRav Nosson was the Lakewood mashgiach and one of the world's most venerated mashgichim. He was niftar last year on the fourth of Kislev.

Among those arriving were many baalei batim, former Lakewood students, who had resolved to uphold HaRav Wachtfogel's last will and testament, where he said that each of his students should study Mesilas Yeshorim for ten minutes each day.

Prior to the yahrtzeit, askonim announced that all those who had resolved to study mussar for ten minutes a day were eligible to receive a special discount on a ticket to Eretz Yisroel so that they could visit HaRav Wachtfogel's grave. Many former students joined the effort, as did hundreds of avreichim in the yeshiva, for whom HaRav Wachtfogel's last will and testament was an ironclad rule.

On Sunday the fifth of Kislev, thousands of HaRav Wachtfogel's students visited his grave on Har Hamenuchos in Jerusalem in order to beseech Hakodosh Boruch Hu for a yeshua for Klal Yisroel, especially in light of the difficult situation prevailing in Eretz Hakodesh.
