The Curtains Part...

The lights dim... the musical ensemble strikes a lilting melody... the curtains part... and another N'shei Ramot play begins, to the rousing applause of its loyal audience. Twelve years have passed since the English speaking women of Ramot put on their first comedy performance. Every two years since then, the Yerusholyaim community has been treated to a professionally produced, precisely orchestrated performance that entertains, inspires, amuses -- and recharges the `batteries' of the hundreds of women who attend.

"The N'shei play is one of the highlights of our community activities," a Ramot enthusiast explains. "It gives women in the neighborhood a chance to utilize their talents in a number of areas -- music, art, drama and dance -- as they might never have been able to do in their usual environment. They feel a sense of satisfaction knowing that their efforts give a most needed boost to the women who flock to see the performance, while at the same time, raising money for worthy community causes."

And what do the people in the audience say? A few reactions after plays in previous years: "I came into the hall feeling terribly low. I've been having a very difficult time recently, with a number of different problems weighing on me. Now, after your performance, I feel like a new person; everything looks rosier!" "When is the next one?"

This year, the play, called "Finkel's Cave," takes us to an exotic new milieu, and through a funny, yet moving story, zeroes in on an important message. Breathtaking scenery, authentic costumes, and beautiful music and choreography complete an experience which you will not want to miss!

The proceeds from this year's play will be going to Tohar Rochel, the Ramot based organization which helps women after birth with household help, babysitting for older children, and meals. The organization was founded in memory of Rochel Weiss and her three children o'h, who were killed in a terrorist fire-bomb attack on their bus a number of years ago.

The play will take place the Sunday and Tuesday after Chanuka, December 12 and 14, in the Gerard Behar Hall. Tickets must be purchased in advance. For ticket information, call Perele at 586-5699.
