RESOLUTION
We hereby express our deep concern about recent developments
and trends in Israel that are eroding the Jewish character of
the Jewish State.
I) We decry actions like the recent closing of Shuvu
schools and the deep cuts in funding for Chinuch Atzmai
schools. The Israeli government appears to have embraced a
campaign to inhibit the growth of Torah schools, and that
development is both tragic and dangerous.
II) We are concerned that Israel seems poised to
undermine the time-honored right of Jewish men to commit
their lives to full-time Torah-study. We urge that this right
be safeguarded.
III) We are dismayed at the great influx of non-Jews
from the countries of the former Soviet Union into Israel
under a seriously flawed Law of Return. We commend those who
have courageously called attention to this serious problem,
and we call upon the Knesset to address the issue.
IV) We are anguished at the increasing inroads in
Israel that have been made by the Reform and Conservative
movements, aided and abetted by an activist Israeli Supreme
Court that has taken upon itself to refashion Israeli society
in is own secular image.
V) We express solidarity with the beleaguered charedi
community in Eretz Yisroel, and we resolve to do all in our
ability to support them as they continue, be'ezras
Hashem, to grow and spread the message of Torah
throughout the Holy Land.
