This past Monday, sources in Lebanon announced that the IDF
has erected protective screens known as "chicken coops"
before its posts in the security strip in southern Lebanon,
in order to protect the IDF soldiers from accurate Hizbullah
rockets.
The protective screens are composed of cement blocks three
meters high and four meters wide, which are connected by
means of a ten meter long steel nets. The IDF soldiers dig
trenches behind these screens.
Those sources said that such methods have proven to be highly
effective and added that since the erecting of these screens
four weeks ago no Israeli soldier has been killed by direct
rocket fire of Hizbullah.
