Arachim has launched a kofer nefesh appeal for the
upcoming yemei hadin vehorachamim. The appeal has the
blessings of maranan verabonon, the gedolei
hador.
In a special letter issued on erev Rosh Hashanah
5760, maranan verabonon call everyone to contribute as
much as possible to Arachim's kofer nefesh appeal.
The following gedolei Yisroel signed the appeal: HaRav
Yosef Sholom Eliashiv, HaRav Aharon Leib Steinman, HaRav
Shmuel Halevi Wosner, HaRav Michel Yehuda Lefkowitz, HaRav
Chaim Kanievsky, HaRav Shmuel Auerbach, HaRav Nissim
Karelitz, and the Admor of Vishnitz.
The letter says: "We know of the terrible spiritual situation
prevailing among our brethren in Eretz Hakodesh, where
the majority are raised in an atmosphere of wantonness,
Rachmono litzlan and are far from Hashem's way. Today,
when there is a great responsibility to draw the distant
closer to Yiddishkeit, increasing the glory of
Shomayim rests on our shoulders. Arachim has been
active in this area in Eretz Hakodesh and abroad for
many years, by means of outreach seminars, Torah
shiurim, lectures and study groups and through its
efforts to register children in Torah institutions. Arachim
branches, scattered throughout the country, are important
centers for the spreading of Hashem's Word and have merited
to return the hearts of many to their Father in Heaven.
The letter adds: "We call upon everyone, especially during
these days of din and rachamim in which there
is a manifold obligation to increase one's merits, to offer
Arachim substantial help and to participate in its kofer
nefesh appeal. Everyone should assist this organization
most generously to the utmost of his ability. Those who do so
will have a share in their work and will be blessed from
Shomayim with all that is good, and will be inscribed
at the outset with a kesiva vechasima tova in the
books of the tzaddikim gemurim."
During aseres yemei teshuvah and erev Yom
Kippur, volunteers on behalf of Arachim will be posted in
shuls and will appeal to the public to help Arachim by
contributing generously to its appeal. Arachim leaders stress
that since the founding of their organization over 20 years
age, its activists have returned many to Torah. But there is
much work ahead, and their vital work needs the public's
generous contributions.
