A large gathering was held recently in honor of the 195th
yahrtzeit of the Maharitz, Mori Yichya Salich one of
the greatest Yemenite rabbonim. The gathering was organized
by the Pe'ulat Tzaddik organization headed by HaRav Yitzchak
Ratzabi and took place in Jerusalem.
HaRav Yitzchak Ratzabi, HaRav Shalom Yitzchak Halevi, HaRav
Tziyon Chubara and HaRav Shlomo Tzadok discussed the
tremendous scope of the Maharitz' writings, which served to
fill the spiritual dearth which befell Yemenite Jewry of
those years.
The gathering also honored the recent publication of two
volumes of Yoreh De'ah of the Shulchan Oruch
Hamekutzar of HaRav Ratzabi. Hundreds of seforim
sold that night testified to the tremendous spiritual thirst
of Israel's Yemenite community and the great need for works
of halocho according to the traditions of Yemenite
Jewry.
Pe'ulat Tzaddik is a nationwide organization which includes a
publishing house, a bnei yeshiva organization, a
network for Torah shiurim for youth and adults, a
beis medrash and the Bat Melech organization for
women. Torah gatherings are held throughout the country every
year, in which rabbonim of the Yemenite community study the
works of Yemenite sages and especially the Maharitz.
