Volume Two in the series of the Shema Yisroel Encyclopedia
has recently been published. The encyclopedia documents the
mesiras nefesh displayed by our sacred martyrs for
Torah and mitzvah observance in Holocaust death and work
camps. Its publication is the result of two years of
intensive efforts by prominent authors and researchers. The
new volume has received warm accolades from gedolei
Yisroel, who lauded this unique project and said that the
book is a valuable treasure for the Jewish home.
The new volume includes more than 600 select stories of
mesiras nefesh as well as 150 pictures of life in the
camps. A special section includes 150 pictures of gedolei
Yisroel who were killed in the Holocaust. This section,
describing activities of these rabbonim in their communities
and their murder al kiddush Hashem, is called
Atsmos Yosef. It was shown to outstanding Torah
figures who praised this eternal memorial to that period's
rabbonim and gedolei Yisroel.
