The UTJ party in the Knesset has expressed its satisfaction
with the efforts of the Prime Minster to pass the law on its
first reading, and hopes that it will soon be passed at a
second and third reading with the requisite amendments.
The party is very disappointed with the conduct of the Likud
headed by MK Sharon. The party knew that this issue which
focuses on Torah study and its continuance is indispensable
for the chareidi sector. Nonetheless, at the decisive moment
it turned its back on the chareidim and voted against the
law, endangering its approval, and ignoring all of the
ramifications liable to ensue had the law not passed.
