Jewish Marriage Education Teachers Training Course

Registration for the Jewish Mariage Education Teachers Training Course is currently taking place.

This course is given by Rebbetzin Tehilla Abramov and will take place IY'H this year in Jerusalem, in Har Nof, from July 30 till August 8.

(The same course given in Hebrew will take place earlier in the summer in the North, in Rechasim.)

Jewish Marriage Education (JME) is a non-profit international organization dedicated to bringing a deeper understanding of marriage and family life to the Jewish community.

JME was established with the encouragement and guidance of Hagaon Harav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach zt'l in consultation with Hagaon Harav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv shlita, yl'a. The halachic consultant is Harav Yisroel Ganz shlita. The objective of the teachers training course is to train women who are teaching Taharas Hamishpocha to effectively and lucidly communicate the laws and hashkofos of Taharas Hamishpocha and related subjects concerning the Jewish woman in her role as wife and mother. Some 3,000 women from all over the world, including Eretz Yisroel, USA, Canada, England, Belgium, France, Switzerland, South Africa and South America have participated in the JME training course.

These counsellors are equipped to teach and review the essence of the Jewish marriage and the laws and insights into taharas hamishpocha to married women and brides.

Referral systems have been set up in all these places whereby every woman can contact one of the area coordinaors in order to arrange private classes for herself with a trained counsellor at no cost. In this way, thousands of women from different backgrounds are able to avail themselves of the proper Jewish education needed in order to build a true bayis ne'eman b'Yisroel.

It has been found all over the world that in addition to providing this service to religious women, communicating the essence of Jewish family life is an excellent form of kiruv. The past decade has seen the institution of marriage and the nuclear family unit ripped apart by new social trends and soaring divorce rates. In addition, the media, unbridled in its profanity and messages of corruption and depravity, is steadily dismantling the family unit.

In times like these, the secular Jew, concerned over his family's future, is open to hear about a system of family life that works. Many JME teachers around the world are having success in evoking interest in Yiddishkeit in this manner.

In Israel, where there appears to be an evergrowing rift between the secular and religious communities, this formula is also enjoying great success. Significant numbers of secular women are turning to JME counsellors for private marriage preparation as an alternative to the establishment route. To obtain a list of coordinators of JME teachers around the world, please refer to one of the JME offices listed at the end of this article.

The material covered in the teachers course both in halocha and hashkofa has been sanctioned by Hagaon Harav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach zt'l in consultation with Hagaon Harav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv shlita.

The length of the course is 48 study hours and this summer, a course will be held in English in Jerusalem over eight days, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. Registration by telephone: JME at 08-974-1030.

Rebbetzin Tehilla Abramov, who gives this course, is the author of the Teachers Manual for Taharas Hamishpocha published by the Israel Center for Taharas Hamishpocha, as well as the well known books published by Targum/Feldheim, "The Secret of Jewish Femininity - Insights into the Practice of Taharas Hamishpocha" (in seven languages); "Two Halves of a Whole - Torah Guidelines for Marriage" (in six languages); "Straight from the Heart - A Torah Perspective of Mothering Through Nursing" (in three languages) and "Our Family, Our Strength - Creating a Jewish Home" (in two languages).

Men counsellors have also been trained by JME in Eretz Yisroel so that married men and chassanim needing guidance may obtain a referral to a trained teacher at no cost by calling JME at 02-652-3363.

Married women and kallos in Eretz Yisreol seeking a referral to a trained JME teacher at no cost may call JME at 02-651-8718.

JME's goal is that every Jew or Jewess of any background be given the opportunity to learn how to build a Bayis Ne'eman B'Yisroel. Jewish Marriage Education is a unique chessed organization whereby the chessed done by the teachers is a spiritual chessed - education to family life according to our sacred Torah.
