A Celebration in Honor of the Printing of the Complete She'eilos Uteshuvos Divrei Chaim

by A. Cohen

An impressive celebration was held in the Divrei Chaim synagogue in Bnei Brak's Shikun Gimmel, in honor of the appearance of She'eilos Uteshuvos Divrei Chaim of R' Chaim Halberstam, zt'l, av beis din of the kehilla kedoshah of Sanz. This sefer, which has appeared in two luxurious volumes has, for scores of years, been scarce.

Rabbi Shmuel Halberstam, general director of Mifal Hashas, welcomed the rabbonim and admorim who participated in this event, and described the great delight felt by the many lomdim, headed by rabbonim, dayanim and roshei yeshiva, over the printing of the index to the book, which contains more than 5000 entries and topics from the Shas, as well as a list of the verses which appear in the sefer, arranged according to the alef- beis. Although the sefer first appeared in print in 5635, this is the first time that an index has been prepared for it. Rabbi Shmuel Halberstam ardently thanked R' Sinai Halberstam, the rav and av beis din of Shikun Gimmel of Bnei Brak for having prepared so excellent an index.

The remarks of HaRav Moshe Halberstam, a member of the beis din tzeddek of the Eida HaChareidis, who spoke about the depth and the learning approach of the Divrei Chaim, were listened to raptly. HaRav Halberstam pointed out that all of the words of the Divrei Chaim are based on the rishonim, until the clarification of the halocho.

HaRav Halberstam closed with a warning against encroaching on the rights to book.

Rabbi Mordechai Geller, the gabbai of the Divrei Chaim beis medrash conveyed the blessings of the gedolim and poskim of the generation, who praised the members of the kollel for having assisted in all the phases of the preparation of the sefer and the index.
