This year's Torah Book Fair, held in Jerusalem's Rav Shefa
shopping mall in the Shamgar neighborhood near Belz, is being
sponsored by the Torah Culture Department of the Jerusalem
Municipality for the first time.
Many avid sifrei kodesh fans wait all year for the
annual fair in order to add to their libraries at reasonable
prices. The Rav Shefa mall on Shamgar Street was chosen to
host the fair because of the large area which its directors
agreed to allocate for the fair's needs, its air-
conditioning, and its convenient parking. In the past, the
fairs were held in smaller, crowded places.
Nearly all publishing houses as well as the major book stores
in the Torah-observant sector are participating in the fair.
Thousands of books in all fields of interest are on display
in scores of stalls. These books include shut"im as
well as iyun, mussar and aggodoh books, as well
as reading material geared for the Torah home.
Emphasis has been placed on low prices, beginning with books
for 5 shekel each. The fair will continue for ten days, until
motzei Shabbos the 5th of Tammuz.
