The numerous prayers in many places asking for an end to the
prolonged drought, opened the gates of Shomayim, and
plentiful rains fell throughout the country on Sunday, Monday
and Tuesday. The precipitation was expected to taper off, but
may renew itself toward the end of the week.
The water level of the Kinneret rose only by three
centimeters so far. However, a significant rise is expected
due to the fact that there are strong currents in the rivers
of the Golan Heights and the Galil, as a result of the rains
which fell in those regions. As those streams empty into the
national reservoir, its level is expected to rise
significantly.
For the first time this winter, heavy snow fell in the
Chermon.
Beseeching Hashem to end the prolonged drought,
Tehillim rallies were held in all of Jerusalem's
talmudei Torah on the 26th of Teves at precisely 12
noon. On Sunday, erev rosh chodesh Shevat, sincere prayers
were offered in Yom Kippur Koton services throughout the
country, even though rain had already started falling.
On Thursday, the tashbar recited the following chapters
of Tehillim, verse by verse: 21 (three times), 65, 121,
130, as well as the Ovinu Malkeinu prayer and the
Aneinu Borei Olom prayer, a comprehensive prayer for
yeshua and rachamim. The Hosha Noh
Limaancho and the Hosha Noh Adomo Miarrar prayers
were also recited, verse by verse.
