Rebetzin Shlomtza (Sylvia) Ludmir o"h

by Betzalel Kahn

A large throng accompanied Rebbetzin Shlmotza (Sylvia) Ludmir o"h on her last earthly journey motzei Shabbos parshas Acharei Mos-Kedoshim. Rebbetzin Ludmir, an eishes chayil, was the wife of R' Mordecahi Zeidel Ludmir, a prominent Boyaner chossid, and the daughter of the famous R' Yisroel Aryeh Margolios, the Admor of Parmishlan- London, and a member of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah.

Rebbetzin Ludmir was born 67 years ago in London. In the illustrious home of her parents, which stems from the Parmishlan and Rophschitz stock and dates all the way back to the Besht, she imbibed her outstanding character traits and devotion to Torah. In this same spirit, she built her own home, along with her husband, to whom she dedicated herself with every fiber of her soul. Her daily schedule included many acts of chessed, which she performed on a voluntary and permanent basis.

A few months ago, she fell ill, yet accepted her pains and suffering with love and silence, and with utter trust in Hashem. On Shabbos kodesh, at twilight, she returned her pure soul to its Maker, while reciting Shma Yisroel. Her family and many acquaintances deeply bemoan the great loss.

Her levaya was attended by large thong, headed by the Admor of Boyan. Hespedim were delivered by the rosh yeshiva of the Boyaner yeshiva, HaRav Fischel Rabinowitz, and her relatives, HaRav Yosef Efrati, HaRav Azriel Zelig Weinberg, as well as her son-in-law, HaRav Yoel Struch, who described her unique character, and parted from her with tears.

She is survived by her husband, and by an upright generation, which is following in her footsteps.
