Last week, mezuzas were affixed at the renovated meat
concern of the Jerusalem Hacker Brothers, in the presence of
HaRav Chaim Shaul Karelitz, gaavad of Shearis
Yisroel.
The Hacker meat concern is renowned for its tradition of
reliability in the kashrus and quality of its
products. Hacker products been used by gedolei
Yerushalayim for nearly sixty years.
More than a year ago, after detailed consultation with
maranan verabonon, the Hacker Brothers meat business
received the kashrus seal of Shearis Yisroel, known
for its hiddur. Since then, the Hacker brothers have
traveled abroad with a team of outstanding Shearis Yisroel
shochtim in order to find sources for the import of
meat to Eretz Yisroel. Shearis shochtim are
known to be talmidei chachomim and yirei
Shomayim as well as experts in their field.
The teams were headed by HaRav Yehoshua Neuwirth and HaRav Y.
Zicherman, who received the blessings of the gedolei
hador before traveling. After each trip, they reported to
the gedolim on the shechita procedures.
Recently, extensive renovations were made in the Hacker
Brothers Butcher Shop on Dovid Yellin Street, where
mezuzas were affixed last Sunday in a modest ceremony.
Present at the event were the members of the BaDaTz of
Shearis Yisroel as well as HaRav Yehoshua Neuwirth, HaRav Y.
Zicherman, HaRav Avrohom Eliashiv, the kashrus
supervisors of Shearis and a number of other participants.
All were pleased by the expansion of the enterprise, which
will facilitate the marketing of meat to more families of
bnei Torah interested in top quality meat with the
highest standard of kashrus.
At the ceremony, an in-depth halachic discussion over
the affixing of the mezuzas developed. Various sources
in Shulchan Oruch were quoted, and the place
momentarily resembled a beis medrash for
halocho. The interesting discussion lasted for a long
time prior to the affixing of the mezuzas.
On their way to Jerusalem, members of the BaDaTz visited the
factory that manufactures salami and smoked meat for Hacker
Brothers. They praised its hiddurim in kashrus
and the outstanding supervision of its mashgichim.
Currently, rabbonim and the team of shochtim are once
again preparing to go to South America for another round of
shechita to prepare supplies the Yomim Noraim
and Succos. All details are once again being investigated, in
the illustrious tradition of this outstanding
shechita.
