A stirring rally of the Sephardi Bnei Torah Headquarters,
headed by Rabbi Yechiel Turgeman, took place last week. The
purpose of this rally was to strengthen the UTJ slate as a
result of the dangers looming over the bnei Torah
community in light of the threats of the country's Leftist
movements.
The rally was graced by HaRav Aharon Leib Steinman and HaRav
Shmuel Auerbach, as well as by prominent roshei
yeshiva and the members of the Moetzes Roshei Hayeshiva.
Many important, public figures and bnei Torah were
also present.
The rally opened with ma'ariv and the recitation of
Tehillim. Opening remarks were delivered by Rabbi
Shimon Hadad, one of the heads of the Marbitzei Torah
organization.
When the gedolei haTorah entered the auditorium, all
in attendance rose and sang, "Yomim al yemei melech
tosif," in honor of the gedolim who had made the
effort to participate in this important event.
Words of blessing were delivered by HaRav Aharon Leib
Steinman and HaRav Shmuel Auerbach, both of whom explained
the importance of the battle we are facing.
HaRav Yosef Efrati conveyed the blessings of Maran HaRav
Yosef Sholom Eliashiv to the audience. Rousing words of
chizuk for the Marbitzei Torah organization were
delivered by HaRav Gavriel Toledano, rosh yeshiva of
Or Baruch, as well as by HaRav Dov Tzvi Karelenstein, the
rosh yeshiva of Grodno in Ashdod.
HaRav Betzalel Pinchasi read the letters of HaRav Aharon Leib
Steinman, HaRav Michel Yehuda Lefkowitz, and HaRav Chaim
Kanievsky, which determine that "everyone, without exception,
from all sects and circles, must vote only gimmel, and
must help broaden the borders of kedusha, with clear,
pure hashkofo."
At the end of the rally, Rabbi Hadad read the letter of HaRav
Nissim Karelitz, who said, among other things, "May it be
Hashem's Will that this rally result in the strengthening of
Torah and pure hashkofo and elicit a blessing for all
