Shabbos Should Unify Jews, not Divide Them

There is no doubt that United Torah Judaism (UTJ) and the other chareidi parties that are trying to prevent that massive chillul Hashem that results from the very public transport of turbine components from Ramat Hasharon to Ashkelon on Shabbos are genuinely speaking for a significant majority of the Jews in Israel.

Shabbos -- Like Olom Haboh
by HaRav Aharon Westheim

"HaKodosh Boruch Hu gave all mitzvos to bnei Yisroel publicly except for the mitzvah of Shabbos. . . If so, why should non-Jews be punished for [keeping] it? -- They were told of Shabbos but not of its reward" (Beitzah 16a).

HaRav Emanuel Toledano

Part II

In the first part, HaRav Toledano explained that the parshias at the end of sefer Devorim, including the tochecho of Ki Sovo and the strong words of Nitzovim-Vayeilech, which are often read before Rosh Hashanah (like this year) are preparation for the yomim noraim and should stimulate us to teshuvah.

by L. Jungerman

"The hidden things are unto Hashem our G-d, and the revealed ones are for us and our children forever after." [The answer is that] I will only punish you for the revealed things, and if no judgment was passed on them, the community will see to it.

by S. Yisraeli

Prime Minister Ehud Barak's "one hundred days of grace" have ended and voices of discontent can already be heard from his closest associates. The first murmurs were voiced by senior ministers and Labor party members, who complained about the way Barak appears to be running the government and the party.
