Komocha Conference at JCC Unites Special Needs Organizations
by Yated Ne'eman Staff
Even the organizers were surprised by the enormous turnout at Binyanei
Ha'Uma (Jerusalem Convention Center) last week for the Komocha
conference, which brought together all of the organizations for people
with special needs in the chareidi and national-religious communities
in Israel.
All of the leading organizations and government entities took part in
the event: Aleh, Shemaya, Merkaz Sulam, Keren Shalem, Petachiya, the
Jerusalem Municipality, the Welfare Ministry, the Health Ministry, the
National Insurance Institute. The conference was initiated by Rabbi
Chaim Parkel, deputy director of Aleh Siach, to raise awareness on the
handicapped.
The conference was the first of its kind in the chareidi sector.
Thousands of parents who have turned to Komocha to help them confront
day-to-day challenges discovered they are part of one large family.
Conversations in the corridors, along with the lectures, gave them a
boost of strength and encouragement for months to come.
