Bnei Brak: Education System Grows by 1,000 Students

The 5772 (2011-12) school year will open in Bnei Brak with an additional 1,000 students in the education system compared to 5771, bringing the total number of students in the city to 57,825.

According municipality data, 13,340 children are enrolled in municipal and public nursery schools and kindergartens, 27,379 in talmudei Torah and primary schools and 17,107 in yeshivos ketanos and seminaries.

A greater demand for early childcare programs was also posted this year as more and more working mothers chose this option. Some 190 programs will operate in the city, compared to 177 in the past year. Similarly, the number of day-care centers will also grow, accommodating over 4,500 children.
