Aguda Convention in New Jersey Focuses on Chinuch
by Yated Ne'eman Staff
The 88th Agudath Israel of America Convention ended on Sunday in New Jersey, with calls to strengthen Torah-true education wherever it is found, in order to guarantee the future.
During the three-day event, productive discussions were held on various issues on the agenda of the chareidi community in the US. The primary focus was placed on raising children for lives of Torah and mitzvas — "Lev Avos Al Bonim" — in spite of the nisyonos today's younger generation faces.
The opening speech, delivered by the Admor of Novominsk, the Rosh of Agudath Israel of America, focused on the need to develop an awareness that an education in Torah is not only a matter entrusted to parents and the educators they choose, but is also incumbent on Klal Yisroel. Therefore we must feel a sense of responsibility for each and every child who seeks Torah-true education but does not have a suitable framework.
He went on to discuss ways to confront chinuch challenges, stressing the importance of adequate attention, warmth and sensitivity by parents, which he said is the only way to open the child's heart to accept corrective guidance.
