Am Yisroel needs Heavenly compassion at a time when its enemies are seeking ways to harm our people, banding together to destroy all residents of Eretz Yisroel G-d forbid. Just as Mordechai Hayehudi gathered the Jewish children — the holy flock — together in the capital city of Shushan to pray to Hashem and with raised voice to split the firmament their tefillos reached Heaven, and the horrific decrees Haman had intended to carry out against the Jewish people were thwarted.
The voice of prayer for the sick and terrible car accidents, as well as the great tragedy of the passing of tzaddikim — which is worse than the destruction of the Temple and all of the curses in the Torah — will be the focus of the tinokos shel beis rabbon. They will also pray for the sanctity and purity of Torah institutions. Their only power to affect the situation is to take up the art of their forefathers throughout the generations — to cry out, as the Rambam writes at the beginning of Maseches Taanis: "It is a positive mitzvah from the Torah to cry out and sound the alarm over every form of trouble that befalls the public."
Therefore, we are calling on them to gather together at a worldwide Atzeres Tefilloh for men, women and children, on Sunday, Erev Rosh Chodesh Menachem Av. Hashem never tires of public prayer and may He bring a spirit from Above to bring us back to Our Father in Heaven and see the arrival of Moshiach Tzidkeinu.
