The Finance Ministry has approved a multi-year construction plan for the Rabbinate botei din, Rabbinate Courts Director-General Eliyahu Ben Dahan told Knesset Finance Committee Chairman MK Rabbi Moshe Gafni.
In recent months Rabbi Gafni has held several Finance Committee meetings about the condition of Rabbinate Court buildings, which are in need of immediate renovation, and he even delayed funding transfers to the Justice Ministry due to holdups in approving the renovation plan.
Rabbi Gafni also met with Justice Minister Yaakov Ne'eman to advance the renovation plan.
Ben Dahan recently notified MK Rabbi Gafni that the plan has received approval and thanked him for his efforts in the matter, including the pressure he applied to the Justice Minister and top Finance Ministry officials. "I would like to thank you for your help and assistance, which contributed toward reaching an agreement on approval for the building plan for the Rabbinate Courts," Ben Dahan wrote in a letter to Rabbi Gafni.
Rabbi Gafni said he hopes the renovation work is completely swiftly so that the Rabbinate Court buildings can properly serve the public.
