Chareidi Medical Organization Heads Gather in Bnei Brak

by Yated Ne'eman Staff

Heads of leading chareidi chessed organizations and medical activists gathered in Bnei Brak to acknowledge the dedicated efforts made by hundreds of volunteers and activists at various organizations.

The gathering was initiated by Deputy Health Minister MK Rabbi Yaakov Litzman, who is in daily contact with many of these organizations, to show recognition for their work and to exchange information on various areas of medicine.

Addressing the participants, the Admor of Modzitz praised the organizations' efforts, noting that the gathering was a great kiddush Hashem and important for Am Yisroel.

Rabbi Litzman said he was excited "to see the chessed envoys of our generation gathered together under a single roof, creating an assembly of chessed unparalleled in the world, for unfortunately not everyone is aware of the tremendous breadth of your vital activities.

"From my very first day as head of the health system in Israel, I have been astonished by the great dedication of each and every one of you sitting here with us, each in his respective area. These medical organizations sanctify Shem Shomayim through their many crucial activities. I am honored to stand at your side and to support them in any way I can."

The Deputy Minister also provided a brief overview of some of the moves he has led in the Health Ministry during the past year, including the battle to determine the time of brain and respiratory death in accordance with halacha in cases of brain-dead patients whose family requests this option, as stipulated by law; gender segregation in psychiatric wards; efforts to prevent grave desecration at Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon; and providing free dental services for children.

"I have acted under the guidance of gedolei Yisroel shlita, and I'm happy to have the privilege to carry out my job faithfully," he said.
