Rebbetzin Leah Auerbach o"h

By Yechiel Sever

Thousands of mourners from Jerusalem and elsewhere joined Bayit Vegan residents and gedolei Torah, including Maran HaRav Eliashiv shlita, at the levaya for Rebbetzin Leah Auerbach o"h, the daughter of Maran ylct"a and the wife of HaRav Ezriel Auerbach, the rov of Kehillas Chanichei Hayeshivos in Bayit Vegan and one of the leading morei horo'oh of our generation.

She devoted her entire life and being to foster the Torah study of her father and her husband. She also was known as an outstanding educator for decades and as a woman of chessed. Rebbetzin Auerbach passed away on Erev Shabbos at the age of 72, following an illness.

Throughout her lifetime she was extremely devoted to her family, going to great lengths to fulfill the mitzvah of kibbud av vo'em. Several years ago, while her mother was still alive, she began visiting her parents' home regularly to help them in various ways and to maintain their home, which served as a halacha stronghold that drew Jewish visitors from around the world.

Following her mother's petiroh Rebbetzin Auerbach undertook the task of maintaining Maran's home, setting aside her own needs for the sake of her father's Torah learning and to prevent unnecessary interruptions.

With her demise the Jewish world has lost a great woman who understood the inestimable worth of Torah study and who annulled her entire being for its sake. She has an enormous portion in the respective learning of both her husband and father ylct"a.
