Israel Boycotters Raid Paris Supermarkets
By Arnon Yaffeh, Paris
Twenty pro-Palestinian activists were caught on security cameras dashing into a large Carrefour supermarket in a Parisian suburb clad in green, red and black shirts emblazoned with the words, "Vive la Palestine."
Shoving customers on the way to the produce section they located grapefruits they assumed were imported from Israel, tossed them in every direction and upturned the crates. They then adhered to the walls stickers reading, "We refuse to consume products of the Israeli war criminals." Entire crates of tomatoes, bell peppers and tangerine were emptied into shopping carts. "Who says they don't come from occupied Palestinian territories?" one of the attackers was heard to say. "Carrefour is deceiving its customers by changing the stickers on avocados and grapefruit from Israel."
The supermarket's management refrained from issuing any response to avoid violence. The authorities are also afraid to respond and ignite the suburbs. During previous clashes in the same suburb Arabs used live bullets and shotguns, injuring 22 policemen in an ambush.
