Thousands of Yeshivas Chevron alumni are eagerly awaiting the alumni gathering scheduled to take place on Thursday, Rosh Chodesh Nisan, at Binyanei Ha'Uma (ICC) in Jerusalem, with gedolei Yisroel in attendance.
On Motzei Shabbos Parshas Ki Siso the roshei yeshiva of Yeshivas Chevron, HaRav Moshe Mordechai Farbstein, HaRav Dovid Cohen and HaRav Y. Chevroni paid a visit to Maran HaRav Eliashiv shlita to receive his blessing for the historic event, which is expected to draw several generations of alumni from around the country and even from outside of Eretz Yisroel.
Maran showed a keen interest in various details regarding the gathering and its aims, calling the event "tzorech horabbim" and "tzorech hasho'oh." He then gave a blessing that all who take part and contribute toward the yeshiva "be blessed with all of the blessings mentioned in the Torah."
The roshei yeshiva, who regularly seek Maran's guidance in running the yeshiva, then invited him to grace the event. "If I have the strength be'ezras Hashem I'll take part in the event," he said.
In light of Maran's remarks to the roshei yeshiva the Planning Committee began making special arrangements to have maranan verabonon gedolei Yisroel shlita enter the hall together for the main speeches by HaRav Aharon Leib Shteinman and HaRav Michel Yehuda Lefkowitz, both of whom studied at the yeshiva.
During the course of the evening an announcement will be made regarding the construction of a new community name Kiryat Chevron, near Jerusalem, a community that will feature educational institutions and Torah centers run in the spirit of Yeshivas Chevron.
