By M. Green
Modi'in Illit's main job center for women has expanded with the opening of a new development facility for Bank Leumi and Matrix Global slated to create 50 new jobs, bringing the number of women employees at Matrix to 450 and a total of more than 1,000 at all of the employment centers established in the city in recent years.
Bank Leumi was Israel's first organization that chose to use the development staff of Matrix Global in Modi'in Illit back when the development center was first launched five years ago. Today the bank has several teams for software development and testing involved in the development and maintenance projects in a range of systems, meeting the bank's high demands for quality and information security.
"The city of Modi'in Illit has changed beyond recognition in the past five years since Matrix arrived in town," said Mayor Rabbi Yaakov Guterman during the opening ceremony. "Matrix was among the first organizations to identify the potential for employing chareidi women in the field of high-tech, and today it employs 450 city residents. Within just five years local commerce has developed, along with the number of residents and the transformation of our community from a "local council" to a full-fledged city. Today over 1,000 residents work at the employment center in Modi'in Illit and another 1,500 work in the secondary sector of service providers, afternoon child care centers, day-care centers, etc. If not for companies like Matrix, all this would not have transpired."
Yitzchak Malach, a ranking vice president and head of operations and administration at Bank Leumi, said, "For several years Leumi has benefited from the high quality of Matrix Global's development workers, their broad knowledge in various fields, their job dedication and project execution at a very high level."
Matrix, which employs a total of 4,200 IT professionals, is a leading IT company in the Israeli market. Among its customers are hundreds of leading organizations and companies in the fields of industry, commerce, banking and finance, telecom, security, health and the public sector.
