30 Hotels Follow Directives Set by Rabbinical Committee
By Yechiel Sever
Efforts by the Committee for the Preservation of the Character of the Jewish People to inspect and report on kedushoh and tznius conditions at various hotels proved largely successful during bein hazmanim.
Thirty hotels and other guest facilities agreed to abide by the guidelines set by the rabbonim and in practice did adhere to them for the most part, though much room for improvement still remains. Information on approved hotels is available at 02-624-7088.
Since the hotels' willingness to carry out the directives issued by the rabbonim remained largely uncertain, demands were kept at a minimum — but were strictly enforced. Establishments were required to remove or disconnect television sets, disconnect wireless Internet, designate separate buffet bars for men and women, ensure the staff follows a basic dress code and make certain the pool area is completely covered.
