Employment Bureau to Open in Modi'in Illit

By L.S. Wasserman

During a visit to Modi'in Illit this week Trade and Employment Minister Binyamin Ben Eliezer told Mayor Rabbi Yaakov Guterman that his ministry would honor his request to open an Employment Services office in the city.

He also informed Rabbi Guterman that the ministry has agreed to subsidize afternoon child care programs for women who work fewer than 32 hours a week as well and pledged to look into adjusting the vacation time for the various child care programs to match the bein hazmanim schedule at kollelim and other Torah institutions.

The Trade and Employment Minister said more positions for child care programs would be opened, in addition to the current 170 such positions, and revealed the ministry has spent NIS 60 million ($15.7 million) on the city's employment program to date.
