Important issues in education were discussed during a special
meeting held by the Education Congress Steering Committee of
the Jerusalem Municipality's Department for Chareidi
Education, and a series of important decisions were reached
regarding certain educators and their institutions around the
country.
The meeting was led by roshei yeshivos, mashgichim and
educators, HaRav Moshe Goldstein, HaRav Moshe Blau, HaRav
Yehoshua Fink, HaRav Avrohom Mordechai Kaufman, HaRav Shlomo
Stern, HaRav Tzvi Odesser, Rav Uri Brandwein, Rav Shlomo
Karelenstein and Rav Avrohom Gombo, with Deputy Mayor Rabbi
Uri Maklev and Education Congress Chairman Rav Isomor Bar
Ezer, director of the Department for Chareidi Education, also
on hand.
The results of the education conference held at Nir Etzion
several months ago to seek solutions and guidance regarding
various key issues affecting today's education system were
reviewed and a number of current issues were raised for
discussion.
As a result of the decisions reached at the recent meeting in
Jerusalem, a workshop will be held and a pamphlet will be
printed to provide educators information regarding various
types of learning disabilities.
A second pamphlet includes a complete transcript of the
Education Conference as well as audio discs containing
educational guidance by gedolei Yisroel and the
speeches given by the roshei yeshivos and educators in
attendance and lectures by top experts.
Another of the decisions was to hold a one-day seminar for
principals, educators and marbitzei Torah who took
part in the Nir Etzion conference. The seminar will cover two
significant issues first addressed at the Education
Conference.
A third pamphlet will contain a list of individuals and
organizations who specialize in handling various matters. The
pamphlet will be made available to rabbonim, principals and
educators around the country, in order to provide a ready
solution to every type of problem that can arise at
educational institutions.
The one-day seminar will be held in Jerusalem during the
month of Av and invitations will be sent to Education
Conference participants.
