Court Postpones Decision on Heftziba
M. Green
The Jerusalem District Court has postponed the decision on
unfreezing proceedings against the Heftziba Group.
Judge Yaakov Tzaban said that both sides would soon be
summoned for follow-up hearings. The judge will then have to
side either with the banks, which want to unfreeze the
proceedings and order the group to liquidate its assets, or
with the specially-appointed company director and the
official receiver, who want to keep the proceedings frozen
until a comprehensive solution is found for all of the
projects and all the apartment buyers. A hearing is scheduled
for Wednesday, 4 Kislev, to discuss the Beit Shemesh project
on its own and for Atty. Molcho to respond to the agreement
reached in Beit Shemesh.
Atty. Elkana Holtzer, who represents the apartment buyers in
Beitar Illit, said, "Despite the repeated postponements we're
hoping that eventually the court will decide that each
project will go with its official receiver, even if that
takes a long time. As demonstrated in the hearing, this is
what the majority of residents want. There's no point in
continuing the freeze."
