Atty. De Hartoch to Be Tried for Attacking Public Servant

By Yechiel Sever

Atty. Amnon De Hartoch, formerly head of support funding at the Justice Ministry, will be held trial for attacking a public servant. The decision was made by Commander Yochanan Danino, head of the police's Department of Investigations and Intelligence, who adopted the position of the Legal Charges Department.

Three months ago De Hartoch slapped MK Rabbi Yaakov Cohen across the face during an exchange that broke out between the two in a corridor of the Knesset building. After the incident MK Rabbi Cohen filed a police complaint for assault.

The case was handled by the Charges Department and due to the nature of the offense the head of the Investigations Department was authorized to initiate a criminal trial. The case will now be transferred to the Jerusalem District Charges Unit.
