At the end of a boisterous debate the Knesset plenum rejected a bill by MK Rabbi Avrohom Ravitz that would have required that members of the chareidi sector be represented on the boards of directors of government corporations, ministries and other public and semi-public units, in addition to the Knesset, the President's Office and the State Comptroller's Office.

A plan to build a string of 16-18-story high-rise buildings in Petach Tikva is threatening to form a choke ring around the city's chareidi neighborhoods. The plot had been promised for years as a land reserve to expand the chareidi neighborhoods. The new plan includes a swimming pool and tennis court that would completely alter the character of the neighborhood.

45 percent of Russian Youths Do Not See Their Future in Israel

Rebbetzin Esther Ungarisher o"h, the wife of HaRav Don Ungarisher, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Beis Medrash Elyon in Spring Valley, in Monsey, passed away in New York. Rebbetzin Ungarisher was the daughter of HaRav Reuven Grozovsky zt"l and the granddaughter of HaRav Boruch Ber Leibowitz, author of Bircas Shmuel and rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Kamenitz.
