New Beis Medrash of Moscow's Toras Chaim Yeshiva

At a large gathering attended by rabbonim from all over
Russia including the Chief Rabbi of Moscow Rav Pinchas
Goldschmidt, and including a number of guests from Eretz
Yisroel, Europe and the United States, the new beis
medrash of the Toras Chaim yeshiva was dedicated in the
middle of Sivan this year. Toras Chaim is located near
Moscow. The nosi is HaRav Aharon Yehuda Leib
Shteinman, and the rosh yeshiva is HaRav Moshe Lebel.
Toras Chaim was founded 16 years ago by HaRav Moshe
Soloveitchik of Zurich, with the help of a board headed by
Rav Wolf Rosengarten zt"l and ylct"a Rav
Alexander Levenstein. The yeshiva has achieved a worldwide
reputation over the years, and its graduates have gone on to
success in many yeshivas, and later setting up homes as
respected kollel yungerleit. It is currently located
in a village near Moscow named Charifan.
The new beis medrash was donated by a prominent member
of the Jewish Caucusus community in Moscow, R' Akif Gillon,
in memory of his brother Hy"d, a member of the
kollel who was murdered by hooligans two years ago.
The guest of honor at the dedication was HaRav Moshe Shapira
of Jerusalem. He gave a shiur at the yeshiva and later
spoke about how impressed he was by the high level of
learning that he found there. HaRav Shteinman sent a letter
that was read at the dedication by Rav Yitzchok
Rosengarten.
