New Beis Medrash of Moscow's Toras Chaim Yeshiva Dedicated

by Yated Ne'eman Staff

At a large gathering attended by rabbonim from all over Russia including the Chief Rabbi of Moscow Rav Pinchas Goldschmidt, and including a number of guests from Eretz Yisroel, Europe and the United States, the new beis medrash of the Toras Chaim yeshiva was dedicated in the middle of Sivan this year. Toras Chaim is located near Moscow. The nosi is HaRav Aharon Yehuda Leib Shteinman, and the rosh yeshiva is HaRav Moshe Lebel.

Toras Chaim was founded 16 years ago by HaRav Moshe Soloveitchik of Zurich, with the help of a board headed by Rav Wolf Rosengarten zt"l and ylct"a Rav Alexander Levenstein. The yeshiva has achieved a worldwide reputation over the years, and its graduates have gone on to success in many yeshivas, and later setting up homes as respected kollel yungerleit. It is currently located in a village near Moscow named Charifan.

The new beis medrash was donated by a prominent member of the Jewish Caucusus community in Moscow, R' Akif Gillon, in memory of his brother Hy"d, a member of the kollel who was murdered by hooligans two years ago.

The guest of honor at the dedication was HaRav Moshe Shapira of Jerusalem. He gave a shiur at the yeshiva and later spoke about how impressed he was by the high level of learning that he found there. HaRav Shteinman sent a letter that was read at the dedication by Rav Yitzchok Rosengarten.
